Upcoming Events - Summer 2026

It's Summer and contests are happening and new Skateparks are opening. The 15th Hoedown at the Hoof went down last week and Waterdown Ribfest Jam is happening today.

What Else? Here's what I know.

July 6 - Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony opening Earl Bales Skatepark. It's open and great.

July 10-12 - Jackalope Fest Mississauga.  A free Skateboarding and action sports festival at Square One Shopping Centre in Parking Lot 3 near Celebration Square (fifa watching happening there).

July 10 - Arnprior's new skatepark is having their Grand Opening.

July 15 - Kincardine All Wheel opens to the public. Grand opening TBA.

July 18 - Tecumseh Skate Jam (Sarnia).

July 19 - Campbellford Skate Comp (rescheduled due to rain & smoke)

July 18-19 - 33rd Annual Beasley Park Skate Jamboree in Hamilton.

July 24 - Groundbreaking Ceremony for Pickering Community Skatepark @ 12pm.

July 25 - Sanction 'Roll Call' jam at Earl Bales 1-4.

Aug 15 - West Shore Skate Spot Jam - Pickering's Holding a Non-test with food and fun.

Aug 22 - Ash Bowl Bash. The annual bowl comp at Ashbridges Bay returns.

Whitby's Fieldgate Sport Complex Skatepark is set to open this summer(now Sept 12th). 

Baxter got a pump track. 

Belle River has an upgrade.

HALP in Queensville has announced outdoor amenities will open the week after Canada Day.  Skatepark and Pump Track are now delayed with some outdoor amenities opening July 10. Official opening Sept 1. Hopefully the skatepark is done by then.

Martintown

I first drove through Martintown a few years ago on my way home from Alexandria. I then did some lurking and found I'd missed the skatepark there and in Lancaster...maybe.

Details are sparse and satellite images and street view showed ramps in various configurations, including completely missing.  The townships park plan mentions having the skatepark 'on a pop-up basis'.

Well coming though again, this is what I saw.

Welp, poop.

So I moved the plate, dropped in. Grabbed the rail and moved it to the rink and got a boardslide.

Then I scolded the town on the security camera.

Hawkesbury

Parc Memorial on Higginson St.

A re-painted CRC park with a mini, 'A' Frame, ledge & rail.

It also features Pro-Obs - The Dozer & the Crete Planter.

I wish it wasn't so full of dirt.

L'Orignal

Much more suited for BMX, it's got huge and ridiculous features.

And no ledge or rail. Been here since at least 2007.

But if you're looking for a massive jump box, 30" ledge or 8' QP, this is your place.

772 Front Rd West - There's a beach on the Ottawa River in the park too.

Alfred

Parc Larocque on Larocque St.

A nice concrete upgrade to the old metal park. 

Still unsure who designed and built but it's a fun little park.  There were a few sand castles from the volleyball court nearby so bring a broom. Oh, it's got lights.

This park is well set up for Regular and Goofy riders. 

My only criticism on design would be this features width.  It was a bit narrow and hard to maintain control on top of. 

This extension is gnarly.

Murals on skateparks...This one is beautiful. It has texture and I had control while riding but it is peeling off the surface.  At least they knew enough to not cover every surface with paint.

Joel Gauthier Skatepark

An old CRC park with some aged asphalt. It was probably amazing when it was new.
