Ann Arbor, Michigan

Ann Arbor Skatepark
350 N. Maple Rd

A 20000sq/ft park. It has an amoeba bowl, Pool style bowl, 2 more transition based sections, bio-swale, stone features and lots of stairs and rails. It is located in a park with mature trees that provide shade but are far enough back that they don't litter the park with leaves/seeds.

Really great BBQ place right across the street, Ricewood.

Cornell Community Park

 Cornell Community Park

Markham, ON

The skate spot is near Cornell Centre Blvd & Cornell Park Dr.

Here's what I know. CCP has been in development for a number of years. There were rumors of a skatepark for a long time. I was given the heads-up in 2020 that Cornell and Boxgrove were coming.  Boxgrove magically appeared. I checked on the status of Cornell and found that the park was ~75% finished and the skate spot was done.  I dug into old pdf's & rfp's to find more information. Everytime the skate spot layout would start to load, the file would crash. Eventually, I found the design.

The Horror

It was designed by CRC. I took a closer look. There was something odd because there was nothing odd. The spot design looked pretty good. Confused, I kept an eye out, hoping to learn when the park would open. One day on a drive-by, the park was open and in use. I rode in and went for a rock n' roll and washed out.

"Yeah, It's really slippery" said one of the locals as I dusted myself off.

I haven't been able to find out who did the build, it could have been CRC, the GC that built the whole park or any number of companies that were subcontracted (EDIT - It was NOT constructed by CRC. It was some good skater/skatepark builders who have worked on Newcastle/Boxgrove/Haliburton etc).  The parks only issue is that the concrete it TOO polished. Bring your super soft wheels. Even after a winter, the surface is slick.

Amherstburg, ON

 Amhurstburg, ON

3495 Meloche rd @ Simcoe St

Libro Credit Union Arena Grounds

EDIT - A 5ft mini ramp has been added.

The deck and flat bottom of this mini was so warped that it bounced.

What if we made an 11ft ledge?
Better idea. What if we made an 11ft ledge out of our 8ft & 3ft ledges?
Won't that create a gap that would be hard to skate?
Who cares

Riverside Skatepark - Detroit, MI

Grindline knocked it out of the park with Riverside Skatepark. It has everything. There's a ton of features that replicate Detroit Street Spots, a big section, small section, flow mini, bowl with pool coping.

Small Section

I love an 'A' frame Pole Jam

Bank to Train Rail

Water! Who would have thought. Fountain, water bottle filler and even a bowl for pups using the dog park.
Plus this place has a great shade structure and lots of picnic tables. You can get a permit for the gazebo.
First Skatepark I've ever hit with BBQ's
Oh, it's also got lighting.

Big section.

Chandler Skatepark - Detroit, MI

Detroit, MI

12200 Chandler Park Dr

This park is so nice I was shocked to find out Hardcore Skatepark (part of the CRC family) was involved. Get your Canadian cousin in line, geez.
Anyways, it's got all the standards and so much more. Each individual section of the park could be its own skate spot.

From L - R.
A nice section of small rails and hubbas. The flat was extended into the garden so you can hit both sides of the hubba, making neat planter gaps.
A 3 flat 3 stair with hubba, Chandler Sign Gap & kicker gap.
A cool transition feature with small QP's, roll-in and QP with pool coping.

Brick Stamped QP hip

Long Rail and Steep Bank

From L - R
Ledges, QP, manny pad, Brick bank hip, bank to ledge, ride on ledge, 5 set with rail.

Step-up gap, brick hip and rock kicker.
