A nice little moonscape flowy bowl.
Here are the 2 concepts. It was a long road to get this park. It was proposed by a local scooter rider a while back. When council approved the project, the plan was to go pre-fab, like several of the older parks in Oakville, even though the two newest parks were concrete and very well done. Council was hit with a few emails suggesting going with concrete and the change was made. RFP for design was put out and cancelled for lack of competition. The RFP was put out again and Newline designed the concepts. It was put on the city's website for a vote. The promotion was terrible and only 34 votes were cast in two weeks. Most chose the Moonscape, 3 chose neither. RFP for the build was put out and cancelled due to lack of interest. When it was put out a 2nd time, Pro-pour Concrete out of Nova Scotia got the contract. When I posted that the park would be built (good news, right?), locals vented their frustrations at me. Well ass-hats, you didn't pay enough attention to the project in your own backyard. Remember, don't shoot the messenger. Especially when he's smarter than you.
