In 2020 or so, Mentos (the Freshmaker) did a crossover promotion thing with Canada Skateboarding (the olympic team) and Basketball (IDK) and 'Turned' the skatepark into a basketball court. It wasn't quite as dumb as I thought it was going to be. The worst part is the 6 stair painted completely blue, removing any visual contours and making stairs look like a ramp.

This was dangerous.

In 2024, Belleville got a Phase 2 learner park & mini-bowl and a good pump track (added earlier).
I had found out about this addition and a skate spot on the other side of the river (Sonny Belch Park) and reached out to the City with concerns about the design.
If you find this hard to decipher, you're not alone. This design was done by a company with no skatepark design background. I was told by the Parks Rep I spoke with said that the design had been directed by local users.  The 'mini-bowl' was to have 3 tiers (about 4" of coping) and the features of the 'learner zone' were to be small. I explained the designs had glaring issues such as a ledge (Right side of the picture above) ended with ~6ft of runout before hitting the lawn. I was shocked to see a new (kinda better) design when CRC got the contract.
The concrete work on this addition and the Sonny Belch Spot is far below industry standard. Locals are not stoked.

The whole thing runs down hill and is very slanted.  The spot drops over 1foot across this entrance way. The Ledge and Rail are both 1 inch higher at one end.  The Concrete work is lumpy and the seams are worse than those on the 15+ year old park.

The transition is so lumpy you barely notice the bad coping reveal.

This thing is nice.  There's even a kicker!
