West Shore Skate Spot Follow-up...
& other news to make your summer better.
In a 'blink and you miss it' moment, Pickering Council voted to approve the Skate Spot at the West Shore Community Centre. Check out the previous post with some answers to the online comments HERE. With over 700 respondents, the response was almost 91% in favour. The City promoted this project quiet a bit and one FB post had over 100 comments with close to a 9:1 support/reject ratio as well. On 2 of the FB posts, I was the first commenter and I put out the facts and no one challenged me. There were a few comments asking for pumptracks and multi-use trails (ice skating trail in winter, roller path in summer). I informed those commenters that these items are in the Skateboard Park Strategy and I support them.
The Report can be found HERE starting on page 165 or search 'skate'.

The Pickering Indoor Skatepark is now the Pickering Mobile Skatepark. The Ramps & Rails are making the rounds of Pickering and visiting different locations on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
No need to sign up in advance. The park is a drop-in but it is my understanding the helmets and waivers are still required. Working on weather bikes are now allowed with the increased space. More Info HERE.
