EPIC RUN 2

 EPIC RUN 2

Blaze a New Trail

In the early hours of the morning on July 21, 2021, I set out to re-claim the record for most skateparks skated in a single day. My route took me across 6 regions, 13 towns and cities and nearly 600km. Starting at 3AM and going until nearly 11pm. The previous record stood at 53 skateparks by some of my buddies who were inspired by my 50 Skatepark run in 2019

There were a couple of setbacks. I forgot my tripod first thing in the morning and had to make a quick detour home to grab it. One seasonal parks in Toronto was closed and fenced off because the city evicted a homeless encampment. A really bad skate dot in Burlington was just gone. It's probably for the best.

Sometimes I got a trick quickly, other times I would battle a trick, fail & get an easier trick so I could get to the next park. Maybe I'll make an edit of the Tricks that got Away.

I had great weather for the entire day. Partly cloudy, no rain and not as hot as it had been in the days leading up to the trip

Here's the raw edit of the 80 skatepark day and below is the list of skateparks.

West Shore Skate Spot Follow-up...

 West Shore Skate Spot Follow-up...

& other news to make your summer better.

In a 'blink and you miss it' moment, Pickering Council voted to approve the Skate Spot at the West Shore Community Centre. Check out the previous post with some answers to the online comments HERE. With over 700 respondents, the response was almost 91% in favour. The City promoted this project quiet a bit and one FB post had over 100 comments with close to a 9:1 support/reject ratio as well. On 2 of the FB posts, I was the first commenter and I put out the facts and no one challenged me. There were a few comments asking for pumptracks and multi-use trails (ice skating trail in winter, roller path in summer). I informed those commenters that these items are in the Skateboard Park Strategy and I support them.

The Report can be found HERE starting on page 165 or search 'skate'.

Updates will be here or @PickeringSkateparksAlliance IG

The Pickering Indoor Skatepark is now the Pickering Mobile Skatepark. The Ramps & Rails are making the rounds of Pickering and visiting different locations on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

No need to sign up in advance. The park is a drop-in but it is my understanding the helmets and waivers are still required. Working on weather bikes are now allowed with the increased space. More Info HERE.
