HALP Skatepark

After months of waiting, the new Skatepark & Pump Track in Queensville, ON is open.

This post with be highlighting & critiquing the completed park & pumper.

Big Step-up section. The big bank did give me enough speed to ollie the pillar.

The big 7' bank is gnarly. Steep but comfortable. There's no deck on the top, it's sketchy up there. There's lots of low spots that pool water. The QP on the upper deck is tight (2' high with a 3'radius) and there's no other 'learners QP'.

The street line is pretty good but I have some issues with some design choices. Parks can't always be symmetrical and this lane is great for me, a goofy footed rider. The Pier 7 and the out ledge should have at least 30" of more ledge on the upper deck. A bump to 8" ledge is a great learner obstacle if there's enough ledge to lock into.

The Big bank is 7ft high with no deck and it's pretty steep.

The Bowl is a 5.5-9' pool with tile and pool block. It's great if you ride big transition but there isn't any beginner transition in the park

This QP on the upper deck is tight (2' high with a 3'radius)

Patched up crete at the wallie to steep hubba.

Advanced and Beginner asphalt pump track. It's missing line and directional markings. The sign (which, ya know, everyone reads) says to use the pumpers counter-clockwise.

Nearby Washrooms & bottle filling station.

This is supposed to be a 'mister'. This is too close to the skatepark IMO.

The retaining wall is skatable.

Too many puddles for a new park

Broken drain cover. Reported and likely to be fixed by the next time I visit( it was fixed). If you look close, you can see the 3 screws that hold it to the pipe have been concreted over.

Cracking concrete. Bad CRC. There's a lot to like. There's also a lot of damn lazy concrete work. When you compare the finish of Bonnerworth or Earl Bales to this park you wonder how this company continues to get work. I found painters tape on coping, there's drips of concrete from later pours, bad finishes, bad seams and more.
